Abbreviations, TTCSpeak, Glossary

It may sometimes seem like we speak a foreign language on this blog! Here are some of the most common abbreviations and foreign words you might see here. 

AF = Aunt Flo aka your period
BBT = Basal Body Temperature
BFN = Big Fat Negative
BFP = Big Fat Positive (positive pregnancy test)
CD = Cycle Day
CM = Cervical Mucus
CP = Cervical Position
DPO = Days Past Ovulation
EWCM = Egg White Cervical Mucus
FRER = First Response Early Result. This is a home pregnancy test, which is widely accepted as one of the most accurate and easy to read.
HPT = Home Pregnancy Test
HSG = Hysterosalpingogram.  This is an X-ray test done to diagnose certain problems with in the uterus and fallopian tubes.  Dye is injected through the vagina and into the uterus to look for any abnormalities and ensure that the fallopian tubes are clear.
IC = Internet Cheapie. A type of pregnancy test strip, usually bought in large quantities via the Internet. IF = Infertility
IUI = Inter Uterine Insemination
IVF = In Vitro Fertilization
LMP = Last Menstrual Period
LPD = Leutal Phase Defect
M/C = Miscarriage
O = Ovulation
OPK = Ovulation Predictor Kit
PCOS = Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome
POAS = Pee on a Stick (take a home pregnancy test)
U/S = Ultrasound RE = Reproductive Endocrinologist
TTC = Trying to Conceive
